Virtual reality headset recreates England rugby squad training experience

Without giving too much about this headphone piece, but I thought it remarkable and related to what Im now doing.

O2 and the England rugby team announce Wear the Rose, a “360-degree virtual reality sports experience” placing the wearer within the England Elite Player Squad

Using the Oculus Rift headset, fans will be immersed in a “multi-sensory take-over and feel as though they are part of the Senior England Rugby Team”.

The experience is designed to place the viewer within a training session on the pitch, participating in genuine drills directed by England Attacking Skills Coach Mike Catt, and featuring team talks from Captain Chris Robshaw.

Headset wearers will also feel what it’s like to be tackled by hooker Tom Youngs, or receive a pass from fullback Mike Brown.

Wear the Rose was created by using nine GoPro Hero 3 cameras in a custom built gimble, specifically designed to exploit the capabilities of the Oculus Rift 3D headset.

After developing the technology to capture the video, it took a further 160 hours of filming and 320 hours of development to create an experience that allows users to turn their head in any direction, with the content responding and moving in unison, displaying a full 360-degree visual spectrum.

Some Other Use For Earphones

Although I still have a requirement for Radio Accessory information, I still take time for family and friends. I love sports entertainment, going on cruises, family functions, and relaxing by our pool and portion people from my tiki bar which I built.

headset. earphonesIf you have a great pair of earphones then these will enable you to enjoy your music at a much better quality than is otherwise possible.

If you are someone who really enjoys music and who has any interest in sound quality, then you are going to notice small differences between the quality of your sound, and even if you don’t notice it you will on some level find it more immersive and moving when you can hear all the instruments working in unison with no background noise.

The best headphones can cancel out background noise, they can give you more clarity and they can support stereo.
However having great headphones is not all about listening to music at better quality and there are actually various other uses of earphones too that will allow you to get more out of them and to multitask and do a range of other things. Here are some other interesting things you can do which require headphones or benefit from them.

iDosers: iDosers are an interesting concept based on research surrounding ‘brainwave entraining’. Basically the idea here is that you listen to two slightly different frequencies so that one is in each ear, and by doing this your brain should then automatically settle on the frequency that is exactly between these two in order to enable you to recreate various different brain states at will such as a meditative state or one of relaxation.

Of course this is something that is still being discussed and it’s a controversial topic, but if you want to give it a go then there are places you can download some free samples to try.
Hypnotism Tapes: This is another option if you want to achieve a different brain state, the basic idea of which is that you listen to a hypnotic script capable of getting you to gradually revert into a more susceptible state where you will be open to suggestions that will get you to alter your behavior for the better.

Again there’s no proof that this works, but it could be an interesting activity from a scientific curiosity perspective at least.
RJDJ: RJDJ is an augmented reality app for iPhone that has a very different take on the concept of AR. Normally AR means overlaying digital information over video from a camera, but in this case the combination involves sound instead. Here you listen to your headphones with speakers in and it will convert the normal sounds around you into warped versions of themselves in order to create a kind of music or ‘soundscape’ out of every day noise.

This way a rustle of a bag or a footstep can become a rhythm or a melody and it’s a very unique experience.
Microphone: Stuck without a microphone but really need to record some sound in your computer? Well good news – if you plug your headphones into the microphone jack they can actually work in reverse. This is because they utilize the exact same reverberating plate to create the sounds, and the only difference is the software being run.

Two Way Radios – How to Choose The Best Walkie-Talkie for Your Business Needs

For a long time people have been telling me that relations, love and happiness are the important things in life…Nowadays I realized that I’m able to take or leave all that so long as We have this earpiece in the world.

Two way radios can add thousands of dollars to your bottom line in the first year by saving as much as 5-9% of labor time.
Make absolutely sure you select the right radio for your needs the first time.
Walkie-Talkies were introduced into typical business practices decades ago. Technology and battery engineering made them cumbersome and difficult to use in everyday applications. However, 2-way radios were recently made super-affordable, more portable and were given a much improved battery life.

Combine these advancements with the ability to save countless labor-hours, cost-free talk time and you have one of the most promising bottom-line tools for just about any business.
The key to getting the most out of your two-way radios is to make absolutely certain you choose the correct model the first time you buy your radios. Many small businesses make the mistake by starting off using Family-FRS radios. Typically, these will work out great for the first month.

Invariably however, these radios will begin to lose the battery charge, the clips will break off, the speakers will cease to function after a few drops, and the entire radio will need to be replaced within a relatively short period of time. These FRS radios were simply not designed for regular, daily use.
They were manufactured almost as toys, and are meant to be used gently a few times per year. Further, according to FCC guidelines, it is a violation to use FRS radios in a business function.

The proper two-way radio makes all the difference in the world. For the most part, any small to upper-medium sized company can benefit from the use of today’s walkie talkies. The cost will typically range from $120 per radio to about $300 each. Improvements in battery design will get a full day use after an overnight charge for as much as 2-3 years of daily use.
Plus, the durability of the radios has improved so much that it is not unheard of for some radios to still work great after 10 years.

There are four basic elements to consider in choosing the right radio for your job:
VHF vs. UHF – The difference between UHF and VHF can be explained with frequency penetration. VHF waves travel about twice the distance of UHF waves on open ground, rolling hills or through foliage. However, VHF waves are very poor at penetrating walls, buildings and rugged terrain.
So, if you are working exclusively outdoors with open land, rolling hills or heavy trees, VHF radios are the best. In any other situation, including indoor to outdoor use, UHF radios will be the choice. UHF and VHF radios will not communicate with each other.

Power – If the radios will be used within a single building, or outdoors in less than about 1 mile, then a 1-watt radio will be sufficient. If the 2-way radios will be used to communicate between multiple buildings or for up to 2 miles, then a 2-watt radio should be used.
There are 4 and 5 watt radios that will communicate consistently at further distances, but there is a limitation to any radio-to-radio communication. Once exceeded, the only way to proceed is through the use of a repeater.

Channels – If your entire group will always be speaking on the same channel at the same time, o matter how many radios you have, you will only need a 1-channel radio. However if you manage, say, a restaurant and you want the valets to be on one channel and the wait-staff to be on another channel, then you will want a 2-channel capable radio system.
This will allow each group to communicate individually, but not talk over each other. For you, as the manager, to be able to communicate with both of the groups you will want a radio that “scans”. This will allow you to speak with either group by switching to the appropriate channel automatically.

Durability – Business radios range anywhere form units that are designed for restaurant and hotel use, to radios for heavy-duty military operations. Review the specifications on each unit to determine the best fit for your needs.
By selecting the proper elements in choosing your initial radios, you will be assured of starting off on the right foot communication-wise. You will gain all of the benefits of having two-way radio communication, but will avoid the common pitfall of having to replace old radios that will not work with what should have been used in the first place.

When NASCAR needed a faster, more efficient communications system, they turned to Motorola.

audioWhat would you do if i said I had found a radio earpiece piece that isn’t only fascinating but informative also? I knew you wouldn’t believe me, so here it is the educational, superb and appealing piece

The Talladega Superspeedway covers 3,000 acres, and is a Super Bowl®-sized NASCAR event that attracts 150,000 on-site spectators and millions more watching at home.
NASCAR manages over 1,200 races every year on 200 race tracks in Canada, the United States, and Mexico, and each location poses its own challenges in terms of radio traffic and interference. These challenges are magnified when systems must be deployed quickly, every week, over a wide geographic area. Pit crews, drivers, officials, and all other members of the internal and external organization must have a communications system that supports flawless connections, every time. When seconds count, there is no room for missed or delayed communications; speed and voice clarity are everything. NASCAR recently realized that their older system was just not keeping up, and there’s no doubt that providing secure and reliable communications for an event like this can seem overwhelming. Each NASCAR event involves up to 40,000 people, with approximately 80 officials presiding over two races, each with 43 cars, and each with teams of up to 30 people. In addition to NASCAR drivers, maintenance personnel, and pit crews, each race requires spotters, timing and scoring groups, as well as fire and rescue units. Also working on-site are emergency personnel, food vendors, ticketing and parking attendants, television and radio crews, and public relations representatives. Because NASCAR stages many regional events, several outside organizations need to be integrated into the communications loop. The sheer number of radios and talk groups that have to be moved and set up very quickly is enough to tax any radio system, and NASCAR’s old system was clearly over-taxed. NASCAR examined all options during a six-month intensive study. Digital radio seemed to be the best route to achieving the key requirements surfaced in this study, which included NASCAR’s need to:

• Coordinate large numbers of radios
• Ensure absolute audio clarity
• Maintain consistent, reliable communications
• Have a radio that was durable enough to withstand a rough environment

After assessing all the options, NASCAR determined that Motorola’s MOTOTRBO professional digital two-way radio was the right system for their needs.MOTOTRBO digital radio precisely met each of

NASCAR’s four requirements.
To coordinate large numbers of radios, the MOTOTRBO system is engineered to maximize use of the radio spectrum. The power of MOTOTRBO is leveraged by NASCAR to bring together multiple talk groups who work all over the property and need to be in full communication at all times. MOTOTRBO is also used to connect spotters, emergency medical technicians, crews in the garage and pit areas, as well as security and all other service and support personnel required to help each race run smoothly.

MOTOTRBO’s ability to work in either digital or analog mode makes it possible to seamlessly integrate older radio systems that may not yet have migrated to digital. To ensure absolute audio clarity, MOTOTRBO’s noise-canceling technology enables headsets for racing officials to perform at higher levels. Added to inherently clearer digital communications, the noise-canceling capabilities of MOTOTRBO technology supports sharp and clean communications in even the harshest environments. If MOTOTRBO users can communicate clearly at a noisy racetrack, it’s easy to see how well these digital two-way radios would perform in most workplace environments. “ We have to make sure we’re communicating quickly and concisely. Through MOTOTRBO, we’re able to do our jobs a whole lot better
than we have in the past.”

To maintain consistent, reliable communications, MOTOTRBO’s digital technology makes possible extended battery life so that all users can easily connect throughout an 8-to-12-hour workday and then keep communicating, even when races run longer than scheduled. The MOTOTRBO system is
also less susceptible to static and interference, and when second-by-second communication is demanded, digital provides the proven reliability NASCAR needs. Durability is ensured with MOTOTRBO radios that deliver the highest quality of communications, even in harsh environments where they’re frequently dropped and exposed to dust, rain, grease, oil, and solvents. MOTOTRBO is designed to meet U.S. Military Standards C, D, E, and F, as well as IP57 for submersibility in water. When properly equipped with a Motorola FM-approved battery, MOTOTRBO radios have been certified by FM Approvals in accordance with Canada and U.S. codes to be intrinsically safe.

Riveting, Nimble & Elegant Thriller ‘Grand Piano’ Starring Elijah Wood & John Cusack

headphonesRiveting, Nimble & Elegant Thriller ‘Grand Piano’ Starring Elijah Wood & John Cusack
So i found this article on the web and i heard that just posting it like a whole article isn’t an excellent thing, I got consent from the original writer and read up the way to curate posts, so this is it…….i thought this was interesting because it highlights some of the highs and lows that I encountered when i was working inside the industry.

A welcome reminder that high-concept thrillers neednt rely on stupid coincidences and even stupider characters in order to succeed, Grand Piano turns the unlikeliest of scenarios into a riveting battle of wills. The story of a concert pianist whose comeback performance gets hijacked by a sniper with a secret agenda, director Eugenio Miras latest film breathlessly combines artistic anxiety and personal desperation, providing its character with a journey as intense emotionally as it is physically. In fact, probably the best Brian De Palma movie he never made, Grand Piano expands the boundaries of single-location, real-time mysteries like Phone Booth and Panic Room with a brilliantly simple concept and nimble, elegant style.

Elijah Wood plays Tom Selznick, a master-class pianist set to play in public for the first time in five years. Having famously choked during a performance of a piece by his late mentor, he is understandably nervous about his return to the stage. But shortly after he begins playing, he discovers that someone has marked up his sheet music with threats to murder him and his wife Emma (Kerry Bish) unless he performs flawlessly. Receiving an earpiece that allows his would-be puppetmaster (John Cusack) to communicate with him, he’s confronted with a challenge that has multiple repercussionsnamely, in delivering a performance that not only saves his career, but his very life.

As loath as I am to describe the music in the film as another character, the concerto written by Victor Reyes is absolutely essential, providing a (no pun intended) meticulously orchestrated through line that frames and enhances each new development in the story even as it serves as a ubiquitous reminder of Selznicks past failures. That it occasionally allows him to depart the stage mid-performance constitutes great planning on Miras part, but the fact that it provides a parallel line for Selznicks emotional state as he embarks on this unexpected rollercoaster is truly masterful. There are few modern examples of music being truly integrated into storytelling, certainly as well as this film does, and even without an appreciation for classical composition, theres much to admire about its use and effectiveness.

As the man behind the keys, Wood carries the film, finding a believable and compelling arc for a character whose default setting might in lesser hands be desperation. Selznicks paralyzing fears of choking a second time are echoed repeatedly in dialogue in opening scenes, first during a particularly contentious phone interview commemorating the performance, then from virtually everyone he encountershes not allowed to forget how grandly he flopped five years prior, even if he could manage to forgive himself. But through Wood, the character convincingly evolves over the course of the film, initially aiming for perfection out of fear, and then slowly building his confidence as he begins to devise a way to turn the tables on his unseen adversary.

Wood is an ideal casting choice for a role like thishandsome and obviously gifted, but overshadowed physically by the actress who plays his more-successful movie star wifeand he turns an otherwise self-contained journey into an opportunity for personal empowerment and professional redemption. Meanwhile, Cusack has less to do physically as the voice on the other end of Selznicks earpiece, but he nevertheless communicates a palpable sense of danger that his victim is right to take seriously. Together, they create a psychological duel worthy of the films theatrical pitch, cementing its intensity as the final, crucial notes of Selznicks performance rapidly approach.

Serving as more than a welcome contrast to the handheld, improvisational camerawork of too many other movies these days, Miras direction is a marvel of fluidity and poetry. The careful composition of each shot enhances the films melodramatic sweep without distracting from the story and performances; whether simply taking inspiration or outright stealing pages from (classic) De Palmas playbook, Mira distinguishes his film with a classical, muscular visual style that suits its high-society backdrop, and mirrors Selznicks mental scramble to focus on his performance and his potential murder at the same time.

Although hes occasionally distracted by expository or plot-lengthening devices such as the snipers accomplice and Selznick’s wifes obnoxiously self-involved friend, Mira makes a breakthrough here as a storyteller and visual stylist that should pay great dividends, regardless of whether or not he chooses to migrate from Spain to Hollywood. But regardless of his own future, Mira makes Selznicks comeback a remarkably immediate experience by dropping the audience into the middle of his implausible, heightened concept and then enabling them to identify with the characters anguish. Ultimately an expertly timed, painstakingly assembled and endlessly engaging game of cat and mouse, Grand Piano succeeds as a whole for the same reasons that Selznick doesnamely, because Mira brings all of its elements to work together in concert, and then executes them like a virtuoso.

Why Do Earphone Chords Get Tangled in Your Pocket?

This article is posted with the faithful authorization of earpiece.com, that is the original site. please get permission from that site before reposting this piece.

headset. earphonesThe answer “because they just do” may be your first response to this question (indeed, it was mine), but its knot a good one (Yeah, yeah, I know…)

Actually, it has to do with Entropy (the second law of thermodynamics) and things tending toward disorder. In fact, the universe seems to exist in a state of ordered chaos (or chaotic order, whichever way you choose to see it) and your headphones are obeying the order of the Universe by causing chaos whilst in your pocket. Maybe.

Alternatively, Summer Ash of ‘NPR.org’ says that,

“Mathematicians have studied knots forever and developed all sorts of theories and classifications of their variations, but physicists have only recently began to explore what equations govern their formation”.

She goes on to describe an experiment, carried out by Physicists Douglas Smith and Dorain Raymer, which involved spinning a length of string with a motor to see if it was tangled or not, they did this 3,415 times. Why that precise number?

Well, according to Smith, “The scientific answer is that 3,415 was around the point where we had statistically compelling results. The human answer is that 3,415 times was about as much as we could stand.”

You wouldn’t expect a guy who appears to have taken the term ‘String Theory’ literally to have a sense of humour, but there you go. I’ll let Summer explain the rest;

“They concluded that with a minimum length of string (18.124 inches) and sufficient space for the string to shift around in its container, knots formed fairly quickly, often within the first few seconds. Inputting these results into a computer model, they even managed to create a program that could identify the? “Jones polynomial” for each resulting knot, a mathematical property based on parameters such as the number of string crossings”.

Ergo, when you consider the length of your headphone (http://kellywrolebanon.weebly.com/1/post/2014/01/a-review-of-the-motorola-dp3400earpiece.html) chord and how much space it has to move around in your pocket (especially when you’re out and about, going to/from work, jogging, walking the dog or whatever), it becomes clear that you’re knot going to avoid the odd entanglements (sorry. I’ll stop now). Its just physics. In fact, if it doesn’t happen all the time, you’ve probably beaten odds close to winning a decent amount on the lottery. Think about that.

Anyway, to sum up, today, we’ve now learned together that knotted headphone cables are a natural symptom of business as usual in the Universe. It is indicative of the great wide somewhere winking down at us and reassuring us that it’s all going to be alright and that everything is going exactly according to plan. A way of saying that the days of our lives are as predestined as every grain of sand on every single beach on every single world in every single galaxy…

Or, if you prefer, the Universe is basically a Grant Morrison re-write of a Phillip K. Dick wet dream.

Or, if you prefer:

Headphones get tangled up in your pocket. Why? Because they just do.

Hi Mike,

Bone conduction headphones (commonly referred to as ‘Bonephones’) are actually really clever. In order to best explain how they work, I’ll need to take you on a journey into the Human ear…

No, not literally. That would be disgusting.

OK, so you know how sound travels through the air? Surely you must have done that science experiment at school where you hear sound disappearing into an airless vacuum? Yup, it’s just like that.

Anyway, the sound waves come into contact with your outer ear structure, or pinna. Then, the sounds pass into your middle ear, which is filled with air (obviously). The sound travels through your auditory canal and then your eardrum. Your eardrum then vibrates, an action that passes the sound to your ossicles.

Now, the ossicles are three tiny little inner-ear bones and their job is to translate the sound to the cochlea, a fluid-filled structure that in turn ‘encodes’ the sounds in order for our brains to ‘decode’ and process them.

It’s actually quite a ride, when you think about it.

So, bone conduction headphones bypass the pinna, the auditory canal and the eardrum and take the vibrations directly to your ossicles, quite literally rattling your bones. From there, the ossicles transmit to the cochlea and the process carries on as usual.

That’s basically it.

It is actually a good way to listen to music if you have hearing problems and it has the added bonus of being effective whilst the listener has earplugs in, or even when he/she is underwater.

I had my doubts about the safety of this technology when it was first announced, but it has been out a while now and has been pronounced as safe by medical experts. In all probability, bone conduction is actually better for your ears than regular headphones are.

To quote, um, myself, in an article I published a few months ago:

“According to recent studies, exposure to any noise over 100 decibels wears away a membrane known as the myelin sheath and leaves your inner ear susceptible to problems like tinnitus and temporary deafness, which can be the beginning of even more serious problems. Bone conduction technology has been designed to bypass the most sensitive portions of your ear and reduce the risk of inner-ear damage”.
